A New Year’s Resolution is something many, many people try and pursue. It’s a tradition. The most popular goal to achieve is to improve physical health including losing weight, exercise, and even eating better. Another pet peeve most people like to commit to would be extravagant vacations, purchase of a new car or home. Finally people like to kick bad habits such as laziness, and wasting time.

The most common New Year’s resolution is weight loss. Most people will join gyms, avoid drinking carbonated drinks, avoid fast food restaurants and increase water intake. Work schedules and family activities will have a major impact on these activities. Some individuals will hire a personal trainer and maintain. John Tierney New york times reported says “ If you make it through january you have a good chance of lasting a lot longer “, even though exercise will make the body healthy and stronger.

The second most common New Year’s resolution is money saving. Some individuals save change in piggy banks, set aside a couple dollars a day. Along with couponing. People wait until before and after holidays to catch great sales such as Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Last but not least some people even open additional savings accounts. This money can aid in the purchase of new things people want. By adopting these habits people will learn to save, and who doesn’t love money!

The last would be kicking bad habits. Most teenagers feel as though they don’t need sleep; they tend to want to stay up all night on social media sites. Some sites and apps would be Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. Teens also fall behind in school due to not studying, and procrastinating classwork and homework. Students fail to plan or have concrete schedule, we just go with the flow.

New Year’s resolutions can have a huge impact on an individual’s life. Eating healthy and exercising will reduce health risks, and could prevent future health conditions. Saving money can provide opportunities for vacation or a big investment. Decreasing your bad habits and increasing study habits would help with better grades, a boost of confidence, and organization. New Year’s resolutions can be maintained through endurance and consistency.
